Welcome

The Education Sub-Saharan Africa (ESSA) is an independent, non-profit, and non-governmental organization (NGO) operating in Sub-Saharan region of Africa.

The introduction of Health, Peace and Environmental education {HIV & AIDS, How its Spread and how it can be Prevented, Adolescence, Drugs & Substance Abuse, Tuberculoses, Malaria, Life Skill, Testing, Care & Support, Peace Education, Road Safety, Fire Safety & Disasters Management, Water Management, Environmental Conservation/Management, (Green Belt), Counseling & Guidance} in schools in Sub-Saharan region of Africa presents a milestone in the education.
However, Teachers in schools and Community Educators are not providing enough information about these issues. Some of the major reasons are inadequate information due to lack of adequate education materials on the same. Although the HIV prevalence in Sub-Saharan Africa has gone down, (Reports as of 2009 UNAIDS press centre) a lot still needs to be done to bridge the gap in terms of basic education to the community.  .

As an intervention to these challenges, Education Sub-Saharan Africa was established through a support from Norway, the local governments and experts in Information, Education and Communication (IEC). Through the same partnership relevant (IEC) materials and programmes for schools were developed to bridge the missing links. More emphasis are placed on developing education materials and evaluating methods and systems that are appropriate, relevant, affordable and effective then using this knowledge to influence others to bring about change in attitude and understanding.

Education Sub-Saharan Africa (ESSA) refers to the donor or lender practice of providing direct budgetary support to finance production and distribution of education materials in exchange for their good will in creating conducive learning environment.
